Bellagio Casino/Resort is Seasafe's biggest job but it's all underwater. When you visit Las Vegas and either drop-in or stay
at Bellagio, you can expect to be impressed. As their brochure says,
"There are places in the world so exceptional they don't require
superlatives. They are best described with the simplest of words, Bellagio
is such a place." |
Fountains of Bellagio, Las Vegas, NV The world's largest FRP structural project. |
||||
| In spite of their devotion to simple words, you can't help but be impressed with the $1.6 billion, 36-story, 3,025 room resort towering over an 11-acre, man-made lake. The whole look is patterned after the village of Bellagio on Italy's Lake Como. | ||||||

| The Tuscan-style villas represent
some of the world's best-known luxury retailers and gourmet restaurants
along azure shores where thousands of fountains dance.
But let's get to the Seasafe portion. It's all black and it's all underwater so you won't see it. That was the plan, and why a special black color was formulated. |
PULTRUDED FRP SHAPES |

| Angles | 129,100 L.F. | |||||
| Channels | 28,300 L.F. | |||||
| Beams | 11,900 L.F. | |||||

| Cable Tray with Covers | 5,500 L.F. | |||||
| Flat Sheet | 48,900 S.F. | |||||
| Grating | 33,400 S.F. | |||||
| There is a fixed platform and a floating platform that make up the structure. The fixed structure holds all the fountain equipment. An underwater maintenance catwalk sits two feet below the lake surface. The FRP floating platform holds all the lights and is lifted above the surface for nightly light shows by a unique air tank system. |
|
|||||
| At the end of each
day, colorful fountains on the lake soar skyward. Accompanying this ballet
of water and light is the music of modern and classical composers.
Seasafe, in conjunction with Bedford Reinforced Plastics and with our stocking representative Grating Systems, fabricated this mammoth structure, as well as grating for the trenches and walkways used by maintenance personnel to change lights and maintain water cannons. Although Seasafe has worked on other aquatic projects for aquariums, theme parks and hotels, the company faced a unique challenge for the Bellagio job. |
An 11-acre artificial lake was built in the Las Vegas desert to support Bellagio's Italian village theme. |
|||||
| This project has won
two awards. It was named "Best of Category" in the Specialty
category by the Composites Institute of the Society of Plastics Industries
and also won Special Color award presented by Rebus Pigments.
Thousands of fountains dance every night at Bellagio, on a regular schedule. The entire underwater Seasafe structure was built on a curve and each platform is precisely fabricated to fit with the concrete and the plumbing.
